Summer 2024 BioBlitz Competition
28th October 2025
In summer 2024 we ran a BioBlitz in Landulph with the option to win a prize. We have already had great fun trialling the BioBlitz at Landulph School on 4 July and now we'd like anyone who lives or visits Landulph to take part: old or young, on your own or with friends or family.

The State of Nature report in 2023 showed that 16% of species in the UK are threatened with extinction. Gardens can provide valuable havens for wildlife particularly in the countryside where much of the land is devoted to growing crops.
A BioBlitz involves identifying as many wildlife species in a specific location in a short space of time and allows us to understand what wildlife we have on our doorstep. To take part in the BioBlitz all you need to do is spend up to an hour in your garden (or friend's garden) recording the wildlife you can see: plants, trees, birds, bugs, butterflies, bees, animals. As long they are wild, we want to include them. Then for each find, describe it carefully (add a photo or drawing if you can) and try and find out exactly what species it is. We've listed a few websites below but books and apps are useful.
We sent out a leaflet and form with the Parish Newsletter but you can also download them from the links below.
