Landulph Orchard Green

"Bless this space"

The children of class 3 at Landulph School performing to their parents sitting on the Cornish amphitheatre in Duchess Green on 28 November 205.  They performed, as magical sprits, the final speech by Titania and Oberon from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream: “Hand in hand, with fairy grace, will we sing and bless this place”.

This was the culmination of a workshop led in Duchess Green by Holly Kibble, the Artistic Director of The Inn Theatre Company from Dartmouth Shakespeare Week.  She introduced the children to physical and vocal performance kills through games and exercises.

My favourite was where she got the children in small groups to pretend to be a washing machine and then she went round the groups turning the machines on.

At the end of the workshop each child created their own magical spirit or creature.  The parents arrived and the children entered in character across the boardwalk bridge to perform Titania and Oberon's speech.

Despite a rather muddy, drizzly day, the children all concentrated, worked hard and clearly enjoyed the workshop.  It was supported by Landulph Orchard Green volunteers and part funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
