Pedalling to Raise Funds - Day 10 onwards

Day 10 17 Jan Siem Reap to Sereysophom (105 km)

An early start at 6am on the road.  On the road -the 'work horse' of the farms.

Day 11 18 Jan Sereysophom to Battenbang (70 km)

A kind, welcoming face at a breakfast stop in Cambodia.  A poor country striving for success and wealth.  The reality vs the dream is for many too obvious.

Day 12 19 Jan Battenbang to Palin (85 km)
Day 13 20 Jan Palin to Chanthaburi into Thailand (90 km)

Day 14 21 Jan Chanthaburi to Rayong (114 km)

Early morning  colour and space from the landscape.

Question: on food from Landulph School

What different foods have you tried along your journey so far? What has been your favourite?

The colour and smell from the barbecue was appetising but those little tails made us think ! We went for chicken instead.  See the pdf for more pictures and descriptions.

My favourite meal so far is Thai green curry with prawns, lemon grass, lime leaves and chilli - lots of flavour and clean tasting.

Day 15 22 Jan Rayong to Pattaya (65 km) then train to Bangkok

Lunch: a vegetable and fruit salad - toms, lettuce, seeds, currents, mango, dragon fruit, raddish, apple all in yogurt. Very healthy and delicious.

Day 16 Jan 23 Bangkok to Chumphon train

Late night train out of Bangkok to Chumphon 6 hrs, arrived 4.30 am. 7/11 shop open for coffee & coirsannttes. No sleep on the train with hard seats. Bodies and legs everywhere.  No monks, only backpackers and 3seniorskinnybikers.

Day 17 Jan 24 Champion to Ranong (124 km)

The best ride of the trip so far through sweeping quiet roads, blue skies and tropical jungle landscapes. Exhausting but so rewarding.

Day 18 Jan 25 Rest day in Ranong

Enjoying the hot springs (upmarket facilities and free to the public) and a Thai massage.

Day 19 Jan 26 Ranong to Khura Buri (115 km)

Hard cycling through a tropical landscape.

Some Thai's have no choice about where they live !

Day 20 Jan 27 Khura Buri to Khao Lak (88 km)

A building for a very real purpose - Tsunami.

Day 21 Jan 28 Khao Lak to Phuket (108 km)

A Striking building - a Chinese temple

Day 21 Jan 29 Phuket rest day

Thai massage and a walk along the sea front catching sight of local fish sellers.
