Woo Woo Composting Public Toilet

The new composting toilet at Duke Orchard has been funded by a FIPL grant and built by volunteers.
Although the toilet building came prefabricated, building it turned out to take much longer than we envisaged.  The first job was to understand the instructions and build the foundations.  The foundation materials were kindly donated by DMG.
With the foundations built, construction could start.  The building came from Finland, was very heavy and required many nails.
For both the floor ...
... and the roof.
The roof was covered by mock tiles which no-one will ever see - so here's a picture.

Unfortunately, the cabinet was not treated so had to be painted outside and treated with Cuprinol inside.

With multiple coats, we even included visitors to the Parish in the painting party.

Installing the operational parts of the woo woo was a bit easier.  This is a composting toilet which means that all waste is stored in a tank which is so designed that the liquid evaporates and the solid material composts (with the help of handfuls of wood shavings).  Once the tank is full, we just wheel it out and replace with another tank.  After about a year, the tank contents have turned into compost.  This process makes it odourless and better for the environment than using chemicals.

This is an accessible version of the woo woo so there is plenty of space inside the cabinet.  We hope you find it useful!
